SCHOOL PLANNING
Concurrency is the basis for school planning. It is the link between development and school capacity.

In 2005, the Florida Legislature enacted Senate Bill 360, which mandated a comprehensive focus on school planning by requiring local municipalities and school boards to adopt a school concurrency system.

School Concurrency ensures that local governments and school boards work together in planning and permitting new developments that affect school capacity and utilization rates.
It must be a uniform system in terms of level of service standards, implementation requirements, and proportionate share mitigation.

FIVE-YEAR PLAN & TENTATIVE FACILITIES WORK PLAN
The adoption of the 5-Year Plan & Capital Budget by the School Board occurs annually every September.
The creation of the 5-Year Plan & Capital Budget is the result of a collaborative effort and thoughtful input from many different District Stakeholders over the course of many months. Additionally, input is received from municipalities, parents, expert committees and the business community at large.

As mandated by Florida Statute, each School District must prepare a tentative educational facilities plan that includes long-range planning for facilities' needs over 5-, 10- and 20-year planning periods. As with the 5-Year Plan & Capital Budget, the 5-Year Workplan must be developed in coordination with local governments and be consistent with local government comprehensive plans.
